Trail Ventures Trail Work Fund

We aim to leave a legacy of trails around Tasmania that local and visiting runners, walkers and families can enjoy year-round, for decades to come.

Since KMR’s inception, Trail Ventures (the company which delivers KMR) has been actively and sensitively maintaining the trails on Kunanyi, and at our other events, for the benefit of all users, all year round.

Every year, we help trim the tracks used in our KMR courses. We run scheduled track maintenance days in January and February.

Your donations make it possible

Trail Ventures has developed a high-value delivery model for maintenance works, which utilises experienced Trail Ventures supervisors, professional tools, and quality and safety systems. It also provides opportunities for volunteers from the trail running (and wider) community to give back to the trails while gaining on-the-job training in proper pruning practices and safe trail maintenance.

Since 2023, KMR participants’ donations and corporate donors have contributed 100% of the costs of this social enterprise.

In 2025, the Trail Ventures team launched a new trail maintenance project on Tasmania's West Coast for DIVERGE Skyruns. Around 120 person-days (and counting) of trail work by a hard-working West Coast crew enabled a 120-year-old rail formation to be reclaimed from the bush.
