Why are you running kMR in 2024?

I am running to take part in the Golden Trail National Series, none the less a race like this is everything I look for, beautiful and challenging mountain running.

What’s your trail running story?

I came into trail running in my mid 20's and quickly learned that this type of activity was for me with the variety of terrain and technicality enabling myself to compete with some of the best local talent. Trail running lets me enjoy the places that I love most, namely mountain regions which has steered me towards races consisting of a lot of up and a lot of down with Skyrunning events playing a big part in my journey. Having competed in numerous locations at home and overseas from local trail half marathons to 250km stage races I am constantly looking for the next challenge which brings me to this run in what looks like to be a hotly contested series.

What’s your 1 ‘must have’ item that you’ll have with you for kMR?

The only constant that I can think of throughout my years of trail running is that I have always worn a certain type of sock, made of merino wool, the perfect height up my ankle, fits snuggly into my shoes, perform perfectly when wet and do not stink.

What’s your goal for kMR?

Having success in the longer formats or middle distance ultra running my aim is to be competitive with the athletes at the shorter end of the spectrum whilst still taking time to enjoy the amazing mountain on which this race is held.

What is your goal for the 2024 Golden Trail National Series?

I will be running at the Warburton trail fest as well as the kunanyi Mountain Run with the thought of accruing enough points to compete for the overall standings in the grand final of the Golden Trail Series.
